Welcome ..

Welcome to Tranquil Healthcare. As an integrative mental health nurse practitioner, I provide comprehensive care aimed at addressing your overall well-being. This includes and not limited to utilizing ketamine and ketamine-assisted therapy administered via IV, Intramuscular (IM), or lozenge formats to treat conditions such as depression, PTSD, trauma, anxiety, and OCD. Additionally, I offer Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT) with a focus on integration and harm reduction. At Tranquil Health, we combine conventional medicine with integrative and functional medicine approaches to address various mental health concerns, including mood/anxiety disorders, sleep disturbances, depression, GI/abdominal issues, and fatigue. Our primary focus at Tranquil Health is to prioritize your mental health and overall wellness.

Our Philosophy..

We believe wellness is a collaborative approach to living that facilitates being well in all areas of life. It is more than just the absence of disease. We believe a healthy mind is the first goal in moving towards a balanced mind, body, & spirit. The first step is to acknowledge the power of self care and that the idea of self care is an essential piece to progressing towards wellness.

Meet Sonia

Sonia has 16 years experience as a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner in Adult Medicine and 20 years as an RN working in acute care settings around the country treating patients with chronic diseases such as coronary disease, diabetes, anxiety, depression, sleep issues, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, inflammatory issues, copd, asthma, to name a few.

After many years at the bedside, Sonia became frustrated with the current health care system that does not allow quality time with patients to really understand the whole person, especially when it came to mental health issues. She believes a patient’s emotional and mental health is just as important to fully understand as is their cardiovascular system, their GI system, their endocrine system, etc

Sonia’s approach to mental health is interactive, holistic, compassionate, & collaborative. Her process integrates many different styles into therapy if needed. She incorporates other modalities such as meditation/ mindfulness, nutrition, sleep analyses, diagnostic testing & advanced biochemical analyses for genetic, environmental, and nutritional deficiencies that may be causing an imbalance. As a NP Board Certified in Adult Medicine and practicing integrative medicine, she is able to offer two frameworks: conventional medicine approach or more integrative alternative approach, or both. The best of both worlds. She is able to provide medical prescriptive management if needed and also take a look at other supportive therapies and supplements that may be able to minimize pharmaceutical need...

Sonia Palmieri MSN,  APRN, ANP- BC - Adult Nurse Practitioner

Sonia is originally from Ohio where her interest in medicine began in high school when she became a member of "The Future Medical Club" ( an after school club that introduces high school students to the medical sciences).  She went on to undergraduate school at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  Sonia also had the adventurous pleasure of being a Traveling Nurse for four years where she was assigned to various locations within the US staffing underserved hospitals. In 2000 she moved to DC for a travel nurse assignment at Georgetown University Hospital, and has lived in the area ever since.  In 2006, she earned her Masters of Science Degree in Nursing in Geriatric and Adult medicine and graduated from George Mason University with honors of Sigma Theta Tau. After grad school she immediately began to work at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Sonia’s interest in alternative and complimentaty medicine began during her first year in college when sadly, her father became suddenly ill with Stage IV lung cancer and died 3 months later. When traditional medicine failed to offer a curable treatment for this sudden illness, her family  looked to other non traditional modalities to help facilitate his healing such as meditation, imagery, herbal medicine, and most importantly the energy work of Therapeutic Touch. He continued his chemo and radiation along side his complimentary therapies and although he was not cured physically, there was a profound change in his spiritual and mental healing. Sonia saw first hand how integrative medicine can help facilitate the healing process of mind, body, and spirit.   She later studied Therapeutic Touch and complimentary alternative medicine during  her undergraduate studies at Capital and she has continued to treat her patients, family, and friends with TT throughout her career. She studied energy work, meditation practices of TT under the founder and healer Dora Kuntz and Dolores Krieger where she attended many annual week long TT intensive workshops in upstate New York with her Mentor Dr. Debra Shields PHD, BSN, AHN, CCRN..

During her spare time, Sonia is involved in a slew of creative projects including restoring vintage pieces of furniture, being active in outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, & running, but most importantly spending time with her husband and her 3 young children.
